Active in overseas cooperation and opening up international markets, SWEPDI remains a close contact with business partners at home for cooperation or joint businesses. Its major business partners include Hualan International Development Corporation of China, China Dong Fang Electrical Group, Foreign-oriented Hydro-power Corporation of China, General Corporation of Technology Import & Export of China, Shanghai Electrical Group of China, Sichuan General Corporation of Machinery Import & Export. SWEPDI also has a close business connections with other design institutes in southwestern China in the fields of electric power, chemical industry, railways and construction. SWEPDI has undertaken many biddings and designs of overseas projects. SWEPDI is not only in close contact with decades of companies and institutes in France, Japan, the United States, Canada, and Russia but also conducting technical exchanges with them. SWEPDI has sent more than 800 professionals abroad for inspections, work or international conferences. Over 500 foreign experts, scholars and business partners have come to SWEPDI for visits, technical exchanges, lectures and business talks.
The technical cooperation and exchanges undertaken both at home and abroad enable SWEPDI to be more competitive on international markets. Through the activities, SWEPDI has trained for itself batches of backbone young professionals with the knowledge of foreign languages, computers and technology. The co-operations and technical exchanges have familiarized SWEPDI with international common practice of business; standard business procedures, and the activities have also strengthened SWEPDI's ability to meet international business competition. As a result, SWEPDI has laid a solid foundation for international business activities. In recent years, SWEPDI has earned for the state more than $ 10.25 million of foreign exchange.
